DR. RITENDRA NATH TALAPATRA

Dr. Ritendra Nath Talapatra is a Kolkata based senior consultant interventional cardiologist who practices in rural districts of West Bengal namely Bardhaman, Barasat and Birbhum and made a huge impact on the interventional cardiology and cardiac surgical care of the poor and needy people of Rural Bengal.

He passed MBBS from Calcutta Medical College in the year 2007, post graduate DNB in general medicine in 2012 and post-doctoral DNB in cardiology in the year 2017. He was awarded Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians from Royal College of Physicians, London and Glasgow and also awarded the prestigious Fellowship of American College of Cardiology and European society of cardiology. He was also awarded FSCAI from society of cardiovascular angiography and intervention, USA, FAPSC from Asia pacific society of cardiology and FAPSIC from Asia pacific society of interventional cardiology. He was also awarded MNAMS by national academy of medical sciences. He also passed Specialist Certificate Examination in Cardiology (European Examination in Core Cardiology) of United Kingdom.

For the last 10 years, Dr Talapatra has devoted his life for the holistic cardiological care and betterment in the field of interventional cardiac surgery of the poor and needy people in Rural Bengal. Currently he practices as Head of the Department of Cardiology, Teresa Memorial Hospital, Bardhaman and Senior Interventional Cardiologist, BIMS Hospital Bardhaman. He also practices at Birbhum and Barasat as visiting consultant cardiologist.

Apart from delivering general outpatient and non-invasive cardiac care, Dr Talapatra specialized in interventional cardiac surgical procedures. His area of expertise includes Angiography, simple and complex Coronary Angioplasty, Pacemaker implantation, Automated Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator and CRT implantation, structural and peripheral intervention etc. He is also expert in handling different gadgets in Cath-lab like IVUS, FFR, Rotablation, Orbital atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy etc.

He has always been a high-volume cardiac operator with average more than 1300 cases every year. In 2023 also he excelled with large volume of cases. The most important USP in his career has always been very low mortality and morbidity with high success rate.

He made interventional cardiac surgical care affordable and accessible to poor and needy people of Rural Bengal through different govt. health schemes. His holistic approach with patient centric care, empathy and 24*7 dedication to the profession with the moto of love all serve all has always been remarkable.
